Boat Hire

For many years dating back to the nineteen hundreds, Dedham has been known as the place to hire a Rowing Boat. We have carried on that tradition and have 26 Clinker built Rowing Boats all for hire from 30 minutes to an hour or more for a leisurely row along the river Stour.

Flatford Mill, the Mill made famous by John Constable is just a mile and a half row along the river if you are feeling energetic.
For those of you that would prefer an Ice Cream, drink or snack our kiosk is the ideal option with outside seating available.

Discover Constable's River

The River Stour Trust operates the electric boat, Stour Trusty II, which is the only powered craft licensed to operate on the lower Stour.

We run scheduled trips from late March until the end of October between Dedham Boathouse and Flatford on Saturdays. We also run round trips from Flatford to Fen Bridge on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Private charters are available between Stratford St Mary, Flatford, Dedham and Brantham on any day of the week, subject to existing bookings and commitments.

All trips are dependent on availability, weather and river conditions.

The River Stour Trust is a registered charity led by volunteers dedicated to the restoration and conservation of the River Stour Navigation.
